Genealogy

Located in the Mildred E. Ward Special Collections Room of the Catoosa County Library, our large Genealogy collection contains comprehensive genealogical and historical sources. Although the primary focus is on Georgia, Catoosa County and the surrounding areas, we also have information on Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Our resources include Genealogy-related periodicals, “family files”, maps, obituary cards and Revolutionary and Civil War military record and pension books. Some United States Census records are available on microfilm, as well as newspapers from Catoosa, Walker, Whitfield and Hamilton counties. We also have Tennessee death certificates on Microfilm through 1940 and a large Native American section, focusing on the Cherokee nation.

Online Research:

At the library, you can access databases containing information vital to your research. Ancestry.com (Library Edition), Heritage Quest and New England Ancestors are all available at the library, on special computers dedicated for this purpose. Heritage Quest can also be accessed, off-site, through GALILEO

For more information about our Genealogy collection, please contact the library at 706-965-3600 or email our Special Collections Coordinator, Connie Haney: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Although she cannot do extensive research for you, she will be happy to get you started discovering your own family tree!
