PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is the public lending and automation network for more than 275 libraries and affiliated service outlets in almost 140 counties. PINES creates a statewide “borderless library” that provides equal access to information for all Georgians. Georgians with a PINES library card have access to materials beyond what is available on their local shelves, and enjoy the benefits of a shared collection of 9.6 million books that can be delivered to their local home library free of charge.
PINES Library Cards are free to all residents of Georgia. Persons who are enrolled in school,
own property or are employed in Georgia are eligible for a free PINES card. An applicant for
a new card is required to provide proper identification (such as driver’s license, utility bill,
or other mail) which includes current local address.
Download the application and return it in person to the Library to get your card today!
Property owners who do not reside in Georgia must show proof of ownership, such as a tax bill or deed. Persons employed in Georgia or attending school in Georgia will be required to show proof of employment or enrollment. Out-of-state residents may purchase a PINES card for a $25.00 annual fee. Temporary cards (valid for 6 months) may be purchased for $12.50.
Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian register them for a Library card. Parents must also present proper identification (see criteria above) and sign the application, assuming all legal responsibility for any fines, lost or damaged materials charged on the minor’s card.
A PINES Library Card is also required for full Internet privileges. Visitors may use “express computers” (for 15 minutes) with a valid driver’s license or picture I.D.
