Meet the New Teen Services Coordinator

Hello Hello!! I’m Meghan Herbel and I am the new Young Adult Services Coordinator. My journey here has been a bit unconventional. I have a degree in Foreign Language and one in Political Science with a concentration in International Law. After graduating, I started working at the Dalton-Whitfield Public Library as the Young Adult Coordinator doing programs for both tweens and teens. It challenged me and let me serve the community I grew up in. I also discovered that I was passionate about it and I wanted to be a librarian.  I am beyond excited to join the team here and cannot wait to meet all of you!

On sunny days, I like to be outside with my husband and our new dog, Hank. I enjoy creative pursuits, whether it’s writing, painting, or some other craft. I love listening to music and a healthy debate. I still watch too many cartoons and have to have popcorn for movie nights. I am a sucker for an open world video game like Skyrim or a good game night with friends.

And of course, I love reading. I read everything. I adore poetry and E.E. Cummings is my hands down favorite. I’m a big fan of comic books. I like historical fiction and suspense. I enjoy a good sci-fi or fantasy book. Some of my absolute favorite books are The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Series of Unfortunate Events, the Game of Thrones series, and Deadpool. I also have a soft spot for Winnie the Pooh. My favorite writers include Chuck Klosterman, Chuck Palahniuk, and Jonathan Hickman.

I cannot wait to meet YOU and find out all of your favorites! I am so thrilled to build this program together. Feel free to introduce yourself when you stop by the library or join our Discord server so we can get to know each other. I’d love to know what you’re reading or watching this summer!

If you have any questions, or would like to contact me, you can send me an email at mherbel@catoosacountylibrary.org. I can’t wait to hear from you!
