Mildred E. Ward Special Collections Room

Catoosa County Library

The resources in the Mildred E. Ward Special Collections Room can help provide some of the pieces to the puzzle when tracing your family history, especially those from the North Georgia area. Although the primary focus is on Catoosa County and the surrounding areas and Georgia, we have some select information regarding several other states.

The collection includes works by local authors, Genealogy-related periodicals, “family files,” maps, obituary cards, and Revolutionary and Civil War military records and pension books.  Additionally, we have a large Native American section, focusing on the Cherokee Nation.

Researching Your Ancestry

While our special collections items cannot be checked out, we encourage everyone to come and explore their roots.

In addition to our book resources, we have several maps, news clippings, and microfilm reels. Through GALILEO, patrons also have free access to several databases.

Ancestry Library Edition is available on all of our computers. This resource is only available at the library.
