1,000 Books Before Kindergarten - Ongoing
This program is a fun and easy way to help your child develop pre-reading skills vital to kindergarten readiness. Georgia libraries are part of this initiative to encourage parents to read 1,000 books with their children before age 5. This challenge is available all year long and must be completed before your child begins Kindergarten.​
Holiday Celebration Reading Challenge
- December 1 until December 31
Get ready to celebrate all of the amazing reading you've done this year! Write some reviews of your 2025 favorites, log your reading, and complete some cozy activities to earn festive badges throughout the month of December. Once you complete the challenge, stop by the circulation desk for a little prize! This challenge is for adults.

This January, Beanstack is partnering with Steps to Literacy to welcome all libraries across North America to join our winter reading challenge, which features their adorable mascot, Benny the Bean! Participants will earn fun, Benny-themed badges for logging their reading and completing activities. So, grab a book and join Benny for an unforgettable reading adventure! This challenge is for adults.
Winter Olympics Reading Challenge
- February 1 until February 28
The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. Athletes will compete in fun sports like skiing, snowboarding, and ice skating in the snowy mountains and on the ice. Celebrate by logging your reading and earning Olympic-inspired badges throughout the month of February! This challenge is for adults.
